The hearth is the heart and soul of the home. The popular term “home is where the heart is” originally came from “home is where the hearth is,” which has much more literal implications. Hearth is the origin of warmth, light and food. It is used as a community gathering place and has served as a backdrop to countless stories, tales, and holiday feasts across cultures. Whether the open air fire pit in the great hall of a 12th century village or an ornate inglenook from the Victorian era, the hearth is the primary source of sustenance and milieu to countless memories. We intend to keep this tradition alive by creating a casual and warm gathering place in Downtown Windsor, to share in food, drink and laughter. We believe the community of Windsor needs and deserves a Hearth of its own.

Environment

The furnishings, food, and style of service will be simple, clean and delivered with precise hospitality. This beautiful, second-story space will accommodate a total of 95 indoor seats for dining, 31 seats in the open bar area, and 80 additional seats outdoors for seasonal patio dining. The main entrance will display the Wood Stone oven–the Hearth and Heart of the restaurant–and will provide seating for 7 guests at the “chef’s table.” Booths will line the west wall of the dining room buffered by smaller (2-4 top) tables and larger communal tables that double as seating for large parties. Large garage-door style windows will bring ample natural light and allow for spectacular views of Windsor Lake and Boardwalk Park. The décor will include simple, industrial elements that create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.

Cuisine

The menu will consist of the highest quality fresh ingredients. The vision is to break from the manufactured, flash frozen and deep fried pub fare that is common in bar/restaurant environments. Instead, we will create true handmade Neapolitan style pizzas, fun and sharable appetizers, wood-fired beef, poultry, lamb, and vegetables that are in season. The Wood Stone, wood fired, hearth style oven will be the focal point and primary culinary tool to execute the menu, with over 50% of the items coming from this oven. Guests will experience big flavors presented in an inventive interpretation of classic and modern pub foods.

Libations

Craft beers will be the focus with an 18 tap system featuring local and regional beers. Tap handles will rotate with 10 seasonal offerings and 8 mainstays. Additional bottled beers will be offered of specialty varieties. The bar will be fully stocked with standard and diverse liquors offering our guests many classic and house-created cocktails. Wines will be simple, 10-15 offerings sold both by the glass and bottle.
